Settled in the backyard of Mt. Rainier, Biiig Stretch Coffee Co. is the artisanal coffee shop inspiring summit chasers to go farther. Each month features three rotating West Coast coffee roasters and a creative drink series, with every sale donating 1% of profits to protecting their beloved National Park.

The Challenge

Being surrounded by drive-thru, grab-n-go coffee shacks in Enumclaw, Biiig Stretch wanted to create an approachable, design-forward space and brand without seeming pretentious about its commitment to high-quality coffee and protecting public lands.

The Strategy

Leaning heavily on the location, I developed a high-contrast, textured website and brand identity inspired by “parkitecture”, the nostalgic grain of film photography and the natural landscape of the Pacific Northwest. 

Noting the primary customers would be passing through to an early-morning hike, I chose a saturated sunrise yellow to compliment the dark chocolate brown of coffee and rounded out the bold palette with the rich hues of National Park entrance signs. 

Using cut-out, scrapbook style to display the featured coffee bags and monthly drinks, viewers are signalled to see our coffee as something to be treasured, subbing pretentiousness for passion. The end result is a brand that feels inspiring, modern and more than just coffee, giving outdoor enthusiasts the spark to go farther on their next adventure.

Dogmark | Intentional stamped style for our stretching dog Roux, tying back to the legacy and vintage nature of National Parks

Type | The font is inspired by National Park vintage map titles, bolding BIIIG to emphasize the elongated pronunciation when saying the phrase to a dog

The type in dark chocolate highlights the location in a “just poured” script style, giving context to what this shop offers — high quality coffee drinks

Colors | Saturated sunrise yellow and dark coffee brown are an ode to the early morning hiker audience with a deep orange paying homage to National Park entrance signs
